Health Funds Gold Coast

At Robina Town Dental, we believe that everyone should have the right to high quality dental care when they need it. We are committed to making dental care as affordable and accessible as possible.

As a preferred provider for Bupa and HCF, we offer extra benefits to eligible members of those funds, but we understand that many of our patients have insurance with a different provider. That's why we accept all health funds at our Gold Coast dental clinic, so no one gets left behind.

We also offer HICAPS services to process electronic claims for most health funds on the spot, so you won't be left out of pocket on the day of your treatment or have to wait in line for your money to be reimbursed.

What does health insurance cover?

The dental services you can claim on your health fund depend on the type of cover you have. All private health funds in Australia include some level of dental cover.

Basic health insurance will usually cover:

  • Oral health assessments
  • Teeth cleaning and fluoride treatments
  • General dental treatments needed for health
  • Hospitalisation following a dental procedure

If you have insurance with hospital cover, this will cover in-patient dental treatments carried out at a hospital, such as wisdom teeth removal. It may also cover anaesthesia and other related expenses, depending on the plan.

If you have insurance with extras cover, this may be classed as general dental or major dental.

  • General dental covers basic dental services such as check-ups, teeth cleaning, minor treatments and dental x-rays.
  • Major dental covers more complex procedures such as crowns and bridges, orthodontics, root canals and wisdom teeth removal.

Some health funds cover 100% of dental costs, while others only pay up to a certain limit. The remaining 'gap' is charged to the patient on the day of treatment.

What is HICAPS?

HICAPS stands for Health Industry Claims and Payments Service. If you're a member of a health fund that uses HICAPS, the service can process your health claim automatically on the day of your treatment.

At Robina Town Dental, our staff use a HICAPS machine to process electronic claims on the spot for the convenience of our patients. Depending on the level of cover you have, your health fund may cover your whole bill or you may have to cover a gap payment yourself.

Check your health fund's website to find out whether they offer HICAPS payments.

Helping to ease the financial burden of dental care

We know that dental care can sometimes be expensive, but delaying or cancelling dental visits because you're worried about the cost could lead to more serious and expensive treatments being needed in the future.

At Robina Town Dental, we're always finding more ways to help make dental care more affordable for our community.
