What is cosmetic dentistry?

This type of dentistry is meant to help correct previous damage, or to simply enhance the way patients look and feel about their smiles. There are many different types of services that fall within this category, and we encourage you to read more about the following treatments.

However, if you’re uncertain about which cosmetic treatment would be right for you, book an appointment with one of our cosmetic dentists and we can discuss any possible treatments that might interest you. We’ll walk you through potential treatments and give you a chance to have a professional answer your questions in-depth. Our experienced professionals can let you know if there are any problems that might arise from your desired treatment, or be able to advise you on a different treatment that might be better for your goals, budget, or circumstances.

Teeth Whitening

If you’re looking to reduce staining, discolouration, or simply want to brighten your smile, teeth whitening could be for you. Teeth whitening may not be right for a few patients, or you may need to take certain precautions when whitening your smile. Consequently, it’s best to have your teeth professionally cleaned and examined beforehand, in order to facilitate the whitening procedure and prevent any problems that might arise from an incorrectly-applied treatment.

We have two main treatment types for tooth whitening: take home kits and in-chair whitening. Some patients may benefit from a combination of both. Click here to read more in-depth information about our whitening procedures, cost, and timeframes.

Porcelain Bridges and Crowns

When you need restorative treatment but don’t want to sacrifice the look of your smile, porcelain can create a natural, aesthetic appearance. This means that porcelain crowns and bonds can greatly improve your smile! Porcelain crowns are bonded to one of your teeth in order to improve both look and functionality. Crowns can be fitted to the remnants of almost any prepared tooth and restore the appearance of broken or discoloured teeth.

Some patients need a bridge, which can replace a missing tooth, usually attached to one or two nearby crowns.

Dental Veneers

Are you looking to correct teeth that are chipped, gapped, worn, or crooked? Veneers may be a solution. Custom-crafted for each patient, they’re a thin facing that is bonded permanently to front of a patient’s teeth in order to improve the colour and shape of the tooth. They’re usually either porcelain or composite resin. Veneers can dramatically change your smile and are generally very durable.

Treatment Story

Patient was not happy with the gaps between her teeth and her existing old crowns. She was in desperate need for a new smile. Dr Morse placed four porcelain crowns and two porcelain veneers on the upper front teeth. He also placed two porcelain veneers on the lower middle front teeth.

Our Lovely patient is very happy with the results and now can’t stop smiling.

Porcelain Inlays and Onlays

Teeth that are heavily filled with silver fillings are at a higher risk of fracturing. However, porcelain inlays and onlays can rebuild a patient’s back teeth, increasing long-term strength. They help preserve the remaining tooth structure and can mean a wider, more uniform smile.

Tooth-coloured restorations

In the past, dentists typically used dark, metal alloy restorations for dental fillings. At Robina Town Dental, we may replace old fillings that have broken down with new, more durable, tooth-coloured fillings. However, some patients may simply want tooth-coloured restorations to improve the aesthetics of their smile. We’re happy to meet with patients and discuss the suitability of this treatment in each individual case.

Dental Implants

Missing teeth don’t necessarily have to mean gaps in your smile or wearing dentures. With modern technology, dental implants act as an artificial tooth root, firmly fastened onto a crown that sits on top as a replacement tooth. The material in a dental implant is compatible with the organic tissues in your mouth, allowing it to fuse with your jawbone and create a long-term, secure, natural-looking permanent tooth replacement.

Gum Lifts

Some patients may feel their smile is too “gummy,” in which case a gum lift may be suitable. This is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that trims away unwanted or unnecessary gum tissue, giving you a more balanced smile. Speak with us to see if a gum lift is appropriate in your circumstances.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding with a surgical or invasive procedure, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
